lets see...
i like the present idea, but i think it should be odd-based
like this: you choose how much you want to pay for the present (1k minimum) and depending on how much you pick, it improves your chances of getting something GODLY
...something along the lines of...1k minimum, 50k maximum, at 1k you have a 1% chance of getting something perfect, at 50k you have a 15% chance of getting something perfect
feedback?

Shouldn't be Christmas per se... not everyone or every culture does that. However, a winter solstice celebration would cover the same thing and would cross to all (most at least) cultures.
This also allows for creativity beyond the "Santa hat" (even though I'd love to see that...)
Evennia should be the Snow Queen, along with her seven dwarves...

Christmas=woot!
Dont start the whole religous debate.
They called it a "Halloween" event and some religions dislike halloween, so "Christmas" can stay Christmas.
If your one of those people that doesnt celebrate Christmas then I imagine you've dealt with 9/10 people (in real-life) around you celebrating Christmas before and can deal with it in-game.
Now, that that is done, they could:
-Have Hot Chocolate as an item,
-And Have groups of Caroller (how DO you spell that?) NPC's in the towns.
-Stockings full of the previously mention items?
-A train set could circle some of the towns.

Sorry Sparky, I was thinking a little more globally. I'm not sure whether or not the Koreans, Chinese, et.al. celebrate "Christmas" (or Halloween for that matter) or something else tied to the solstice. Not intended to be a religious debate.
For that matter... what holidays may be coming primarily celebrated by our overseas friends that would be a nice touch for GW to recognize? I understand the Chinese New Year celebrations can be something... and people miss fireworks in GW, no?
Think outside the box.

If I remember correctly the Chinese new year starts at the beginning of February. But I do agree with your former idea. There are three holidays around this time of year so why not include them all. We can include parts of all the holidays into one area. Mostly Christmass because most people celebrate that but that doesnt mean extra things can't be added.
When Halloween came I was disappointed to see that the charr werent celebrating it. I mean they could have dressed them up with bunny ears and a puffy tail. Why not for Christmass dress the creatures up. The white mantel can be santa clause and the charr can have reigndeer antlers.

nubxors are getting talkative this time of year...
cultures are intimately related to religions,
Merriam-webster:
a : the integrated pattern of human knowledge, belief, and behavior that depends upon man's capacity for learning and transmitting knowledge to succeeding generations
b : the customary beliefs, social forms, and material traits of a racial, RELIGIOUS, or social group.
Therefore my son, I suggest you realise there is no box, and stop trying to use incorrect cliche's.
You say I should start thinking outside the box.
I say you should just START thinking to begin with.

Well, you're good at highlighting a single word and claiming victory... however the very next word, "or", shows that that particular dictionary definition shows that religion can be one factor in distinguishing a culture, not the "intimately related" item you claim.
However, things have drifted off topic.
Charr in bunny ears... heh heh. I'd expect the bunny ears to be stuck between their teeth though...
I would like to see a holiday event encompassing a great many cultures, be they religious or not, so as to not only include everyone but to also introduce people to other cultures, other ideas. A united festivity.
With free stuff.

Add another quest in Sorrow's where you have to eventually defeat Bad Santa, and on the way his crazed reindeer. Be a good chance to slaughter some elves as well.
Sorrow's could look like the North Pole.
Could get special items like Candy Canes

Man there are alot of good ideas here. Hopefully these will be good additions. I like the ideas for collectors items but instead of an elf in the box i'd say go with snow balls. the way they work is they can only be used in town. Highlight a target and use the snowball, you throw the snowball at the target and they are effected by the ice condition (like what you find in marhans grotto) so they are slowed in town for 5 seconds while they are moving. Also I think a district wide snow ball war would be an awsome sight.
For the item you get from Santa a present that gives you a random high class item (either purple or gold, or one of the more expensive dyes) or even something like a christmas dye that when used turns your whole armor set red and green?

What if they were to do something like that for the international districts? Each of the major cities like Ascalon and Lions, would be decorated to represent a different holiday celebrated during december. Granted alot of programming involved but trying to mash all the holidays together could have the design team so frusterated with the holidays they'll start thinking that celebrating them in game just isn't worth the trouble.

Throw snowball skill ftw! Also, sleds. Permanant item. Can only be used in snowy areas and on a downhill slope. Speed depends on slope but is faster than walking. Can be steered to some extent and cannot be used when you have aggro. When coming off a slope and onto a flat area, you slide for some distance.

What about a Santa equippable set for christmas, and also where the Ettins and mobs that drop armor items, they should drop more purple/gold Santa's Boots that always have Major/Superior runes!?

This would work, since most December holidays besides the Passover are based on it.

A couple of things.
1) I don't think that anyone "got" the fact that my other (now-closed) thread "Dear Santa" was just for humor's sake. Just thought I should clarify.
2) Suggestions:
- I think one of the handout items should be a candy cane. And of course, all that sugar gives you a 5-second Sprint-like speed boost (non-stackable or max stack 2 or 3).
- Eggnog = Witches' Brew / Ale
- A friend brought up an interesting one: a Santa Sack that replaces the belt pouch and holds up to 20 items?
However, I don't think they want all events to be a mirror image of each other.
What I thought might be interesting is a few short new seasonal quests. Resurrect a small unused map (an early area from the betas?), retexture, throw in several dwarves beating up on elves and a few twisted objectives.
Either way, I'm sure what they come up with will be fun.
